Masterchef program benefitting Geelong residents
A LOCALLY based MasterChef Program is providing all-abilities residents with top quality culinary training, as Leisure Networks teams up with Geelong’s beloved Wharf Shed Café.
A collaboration between Leisure Networks’ Manager of Growth & Partnerships, Kristin Winberry, and Wharf Shed Café co-owner, Matt Connell, the program allows participants to sharpen their culinary skills in a real commercial kitchen guided by professional chefs.
Ms Winberry said the program gives an incredible opportunity to Leisure Networks’ participants to gain real-world experience from industry professionals.
“The skills they develop here are vital for daily living and even potential future employment, which ties directly into our mission of empowering individuals to live their best lives.”
Participants get to engage in kitchen and restaurant activities ranging from food preparation to front-of-house duties.
“We’re excited to welcome the MasterChef Program participants to the Wharf Shed,” Mr Connell said.
“It’s rewarding for us to share our passion for hospitality and witness the impact it has on participants. Their enthusiasm and growth bring a fresh perspective to our work—it’s an enriching experience for everyone involved.”
White Cross Healthcare Solutions extended its support to the MasterChef Program by generously donating cutlery sets and chef knives.
Through this hands-on experience, participants are not only developing vital life skills but also building their capacity for greater independence and self-confidence.
The Wharf Shed team’s mentorship and guidance brings a deeper sense of fulfilment through community-driven initiatives.
