GEELONG’S Mavs Greek Restaurant has secured a podium finish at the Restaurant and Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence National Final.

The Greek institution took home a bronze medal for a third year in a row in the Best Greek Restaurant category.

The Restaurant and Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence gives restaurants, cafes and caterers well-deserved recognition for their hard work, exceptional food and outstanding service.

The National Final was held at Zinc Federation Square this past Monday evening.

Mavs Greek Restaurant specialise in authentic and fresh Greek cuisine designed to share over an ouzo, wine or cocktail.

Chef Milton’s hearty moussaka, slow cooked lamb, and grilled cheese have helped Mavs achieve its three-peat as best Greek restaurant in Victoria/Tasmania.

The owners said they were overjoyed to secure the bronze medal.

“It’s a great feeling. To have won three bronze awards in a row certifies we are doing something right.

“There were so many great venues from around the country nominated. It’s a real honour to be among them.

“It’s also great recognition for our team, and my husband Milton who is the engine behind all the hard work.”

Ms Rybova said Mavs will again be taking part in the competition in 2025, with the aim of securing the gold.

“Once we get the reports from the judges, we will see what we can work better on and improve accordingly.

“Hopefully we will be back up there.”

Local winery Jack Rabbit Vineyard Restaurant Bellarine was also recognised at the National Final as a finalist in the Restaurant in a Winery category.
