Meet your You Yangs Ward candidates
Held on Thursday, October 17 at the Lara Golf Club from 7.30pm, the “meet the candidates” event will provide an opportunity for voters to get to know who’s running.
The City of Greater Geelong’s new electoral structure means there are now 11 wards, with one councillor each.
Lara Care Group president Barry White said the event was very important, given the change in the electoral boundary.
“The You Yangs Ward covers an extensive area geographically it’s the largest area by far and there’s quite a significant diversity in terms of the interests and population.
“There’s a lot to really understand from both parties, both the candidates and community, and we’re keen to actually give them the opportunity to do this.”
At the event, candidates will have the opportunity to give a brief presentation, followed by a Q&A session.
“The purpose of the exercise is to let the community see who’s standing for election and also allow the candidates to understand what the community is essentially looking for,” Mr White said.
Lorraine Kulic and Chris Burson will be in attendance while Nicole Lynch and Theresa Slater are unable to attend.
