Michael Malouf to step down from Kardinia Park Stadium Trust

June 4, 2020 BY

Michael Malouf was appointed to the Kardinia Park Stadium Trust in 2016.

KARDINIA Park Stadium Trust chair Michael Malouf will step down from the role, informing the state government earlier this week that he will not be seeking reappointment.
Mr Malouf held senior public and private executive roles before joining the trust in 2016 and his appointment as chair in 2017.
He said he was extremely proud of the work that he and the trust had done.
Mr Malouf was integral in the development of the Stage 5 redevelopment business case, and led negotiations to reach agreement with the Geelong Football Club on the commercial, legal and operational aspects that are pivotal to the success of the stadium partnership.
He was instrumental in developing the trust’s community connections with the introduction of the annual Festival of Sport and collaborations with sporting codes beyond Australian rules such as the BBL’s Renegades and the A-League’s Western United.
“The board is grateful for the expertise and experience that Michael has put to such effective use in his time at the head of our organisation,” Kardinia Park Stadium Trust deputy chair Gillian Costa said.
“We are entrusted with the care of a vital and much-loved community asset and Michael leaves it in a better place than when he arrived.”
Mr Malouf, who was appointed as a Member of the Order of Australia significant service to local government and to the community of Victoria in this year’s Australia Day honours, will remain active in the community.
Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Martin Pakula said Mr Malouf had played a key role in his time with the trust.
“I thank him for his time as member and chair and wish him all the best for his future endeavours.”
