ROADS authorities will close another road at the Barwon Heads Road roundabout next week as work progresses on a major duplication project.

Tannery Road, east of the roundabout, is set to close from Tuesday, April 26, as part of the next construction phase that includes water main relocation, drainage, pavement works and traffic signal installation.

It is set to reopen in mid-June at the end of works, alongside Reserve Road further south, reinstating direct access to areas east of Barwon Heads Road.

Road crews will detour drivers via Parkfield Boulevard, about two kilometres south, and Sparrovale Road.

Horseshoe Bend Road is already closed at the intersection due to progress at the site, which barred entry to the south end in November last year and the north section in January.

Marshalltown Road, opposite Tannery Road at the roundabout, is back open to traffic at the site after a two-lane closure during last week.

The construction is part of a $365 million stage one upgrade to Barwon Heads Road, which will duplicate four kilometres of the motorway between Settlement Road, Belmont and Reserve Road, Charlemont.
