Mt Duneed Estate among top 10 per cent on Tripadvisor
MT Duneed Estate has been recognised for its consistent favourable reviews on the world’s largest travel platform, earning itself a Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award.
Tripadvisor operates in 40 countries and houses an estimated one billion reviews of about eight million restaurants, hotels, businesses and attractions.
The award, determined based on the quality and quantity of the traveller reviews and ratings a business garners on Tripadvisor over a 12-month period, places the venue among the top 10 per cent of listings around the world.
Christine Whelan, Mt Duneed Estate’s sales and marketing manager, said it was an honour to receive the award.
“What makes this award so special is that it is straight from our customers – independent and a true testament that if you love what you do, customers will always see that,” Ms Whelan said.
“We couldn’t be happier or more proud of our team.”
Located in Barrabool Hills, Mt Duneed Estate is a popular winery and event centre known for its weddings, celebrations and iconic A Day on the Green concerts, which it has been hosting for more than a decade.
In mid-2023, the venue added eight boutique one-bedroom accommodation pods to its offering with the support of a grant from the Victorian government, aimed at bolstering the local tourism landscape.
“Our focus has always and will always be to ensure that every single person who walks through our doors leaves wanting to return,” Ms Whelan said.
“Taking time to talk with our customers, connect with them and, of course, enjoy delicious food and wine, is what we enjoy doing.
“Most of our team have been with us for a long time and understand the value of experience, flexibility and great service.”
She praised the efforts of the venue’s chefs who consistently deliver “mouth-watering food with an exciting twist”.
“Our chefs create food that is full of flavour, plentiful and we have been asked on many occasions to share our secret recipes,” Ms Whelan said.
“Our shared style of dining inspires a relaxed atmosphere with elevated, yet approachable food.”
The Geelong Visitor Information Centre, which relocated to City Hall on Gheringhap Street late last year, was also one of this year’s Travellers’ Choice Award recipients.
The information hub is staffed by volunteers from Tourism Greater Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula.
It connects locals and visitors with tours, arts and culture recommendations, and hospitality and accommodation providers.
