LOCAL therapeutic surf charity Ocean Mind is banding the local community together to rock out for a special cause this December.

The organisation’s inaugural Let It Rip music fundraiser will be held on December 14 at the Torquay Surf Life Saving Club.

The event will raise vital funds to support Ocean Mind in delivering important confidence building programs for young people experiencing mental health challenges and disabilities.

Headlining the evening will be the musical prowess of Watty Thompson and his Total Fire Band, intimate songwriter Chitra and Jan Juc rockers Sargent Baker.

Blackmans Brewery, Flowstate and Feed Me Surf Coast will all be on site catering the event.

Ocean Mind fundraising and relationships manager Jack Parsons said he was stoked to be putting on the fundraiser with such epic local bands.

“We love this venue so much – it’s such an iconic building right on the water in Torquay and it’s held some insanely great live music over the years.

“It’s exciting to be setting up the first of hopefully many Let It Rip music fundraisers there.”

“At Ocean Mind, we’re all about riding waves and making a difference,” Ocean Mind chief executive officer Rachael Parker added.

“The Let It Rip fundraiser is set to be an epic evening of music and good vibes. Join us to support our work, help young people catch brighter futures, and have a blast doing it.”

The event will take place inside the Torquay Surf Life Saving Club.

Torquay SLSC member Jay Muir said the club protect the same beaches where Ocean Mind delivered its important surf therapy programs.

“It makes us feel like the perfect setting to kick off what we know will be an amazing event.

“Let’s make this night a great success and raise some funds and awareness for this great local cause, and help them to continue to deliver their meaningful programs for young people.” Tickets are $35
