Music returns to Geelong’s botanic gardens
GEELONG Jazz Soirees Summer Series is bringing live music back to the Geelong Botanic Gardens with three unmissable concerts this February.
Audiences are invited to pack a picnic and enjoy inspiring performances from some of the region’s finest jazz acts including the Suspects, Lucy Lorenne and Phillipa McQuinn with more to be announced.
The concerts will take place on the new Geelong Botanic Gardens Camellia Lawn which features a stage set among large trees and manicured garden beds – ideal for outdoor performances in the sun.
“Many Geelong residents have fond memories of ‘Music In The Gardens’ which used to occur at the Geelong Botanic Gardens,” organiser Callum Watson said.
“I believe it is important to re-establish a low-cost music series in this superb setting – music and amazing gardens go together so well. There is something for everyone in this year’s program.
“Performances will go beyond traditional jazz drawing on a range of styles including Americana, R&B, Celtic, Classical and more – perfectly complementing the relaxing and picturesque surroundings.”
While the event is principally a music event, patrons are encouraged to support Geelong CBD food traders who have struggled during the pandemic by dining before the performances.
With shows starting at 2pm, there is ample time to have lunch at any one of the bars and restaurants located in the CBD. Takeaway can also be brought into the show.
