AFL Barwon is still seeking nominations for names for some of the awards it hands out during the football and netball season each year.
The AFL Barwon Commission has said it wants to ensure the award names in the AFL Barwon region – which covers the Geelong, Bellarine and Colac & District leagues – honour those who have made significant, lasting contributions to the community, preserving their legacies for future generations.
Some awards have already been named. One of the first was revealed in September, when AFL Barwon announced the Geelong Football League grand final best on ground medal would be renamed to the Frank Fopiani Medal.

Applications about a renaming of an award should include comprehensive information about the individual in question, including specific examples and evidence of their contributions, achievements, and impact on the AFL Barwon community.
Once submitted, the application will be reviewed by AFL Barwon’s History and Awards Sub-Committee, which is chaired by Nicola Wojcik from the AFL Barwon Commission.
