THE native nursery sector will be celebrated next week with an inaugural event on Thursday, November 27.

Held by the Corangamite Catchment Management Authority (CMA) and Melbourne Water, the Native Nursery Expo will connect nursery staff and volunteers to share knowledge and strengthen collaboration across the region.

“Native nurseries play a vital role in restoring landscapes and supporting biodiversity,” Corangamite CMA Regional Landcare Coordinator Kylie McLaren said.

“This event is about celebrating their contribution and creating stronger connections across the sector.”

One of the highlights of the expo will be a panel discussion and presentation that includes Otway Greening Indigenous Nursery founder Mike Robinson-Koss, Bellarine Landcare Group Indigenous Plant Nursery’s Beth Ross and Southern Otway Landcare Network’s Arabella Imhoff.

Children will also be entertained with hands-on activities including a nature bus and milestone demonstration.

The free event is supported with funding from the state government’s Victorian Landcare Program and will take place at Eden Oak in East Geelong.
