Clare Amies replaces Libby Mears on the Kardinia Park Stadium Trust.

CLARE Amies has been appointed as the latest trustee on the Kardinia Park Stadium Trust.

Ms Amies has joined the trust to replace Libby Mears, who stepped down in late October to become the inaugural chair of the new Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority.

Victorian Minister for Sport, Tourism and Major Events, Martin Pakula, announced the appointment last week.

Ms Amies’ extensive experience and expertise includes previous roles within government as the chief executive officer of WorkSafe Victoria, executive director at TAC and the CEO of Western Regional Health Centre.

She is presently the chief executive officer of genU, the innovative organisation that came from the joining of Karingal and St Laurence Community Services.

Based in Geelong, genU is one of Australia’s leading community organisations providing support and services to thousands of people in the areas of disability, aged care and employment.

The Kardinia Park Stadium Trust administers, promotes and manages GMHBA Stadium and attached land, with the overarching objective of contributing to the economy, community and livability of the Geelong region and the state.

Other members of the Trust are chair Stephen Gough, Gillian Costa, Rob Hulls, Dan Simmonds, Joe Calafiore and Bernadette Uzelac.
“We congratulate Clare and look forward to her joining the Trust,” Mr Gough said.

“Clare’s exceptional skillset will contribute positively to the outcomes for the Kardinia Park Stadium Trust.”

The trust will now look to start preparatory works for stage five of the stadium’s redevelopment.
