THE City of Greater Geelong has extended its nomination period for the 2025 Women in Community Life Awards.

The awards are presented as part of the City’s International Women’s Day event on March 5.

The awards acknowledge the contribution women have made to the Greater Geelong community, namely in advancing gender equality.

There are four categories for the upcoming awards including Leadership and Advocacy, First Nations Woman, Human Rights, and Strengthening Healthy Communities.

“Right across Greater Geelong, women are making highly valuable contributions to our community and to our lives every single day,” City of Greater Geelong mayor Stretch Kontelj said.

“The Women in Community Life Awards aim to acknowledge those women, to recognise their achievements and to celebrate the impact that women in our community continue to have.”

Nominations can be lodged via the city’s Women in Community Life Awards page. Nominations now close on Wednesday, January 15.

Cr Melissa Cadwell encouraged residents to nominate any woman in the region.

“The awards night is a really important event and it is a special night for so many reasons,” Cr Cadwell said.

“It is such a wonderful way to pay tribute to the incredible women in the Greater Geelong region and I look forward to seeing some quality nominations for the 2025 event.”

The only eligibility requirements for nominations are a nominee must live, work or study in the Greater Geelong region.
