NOMINATIONS for the 2024 Victorian Honour Roll of Women have opened.

The Allan Labor Government is calling for nominations of women who have made outstanding contributions to the state.

The Honour Roll began in 2001 and since then almost 750 women have been inducted for their contributions in a number of fields including environment, social justice, science, education and more.

Recipients from the Geelong region include Anne Parton who was last year recognised for her unpaid work in Victorian communities over the past 60 years.

Women of all ages, experience, backgrounds and fields are able to be nominated for the Roll and recognised and celebrated as part of the program.

“The Victorian Honour Roll of Women is providing a real opportunity for women already achieving great things to have an even greater impact,” Minister for Women Natalie Hutchins said.

Anne Parton was recognised for her work in the community over the last 60 years.

“The almost 750 Honour Roll inductees serve as inspiring roll models for women across Victoria, as we strive for gender equality in our workplaces and across our society.

“I’d encourage all Victorians to take note of the nominations link and put forward a woman they know who is having an incredible impact on their own communities.”

As part of the criteria women need to have been born in Victoria or have spent a considerable part of their life in the state or made a significant contribution.

The government are encouraging nominations from diverse women and welcome nominations from trans women, sistergirls and gender diverse people.

One of the categories for nominations includes emerging leader which is open to women aged between 16 and 30.

Posthumous and self-nominations are also welcome.

Nominations are open now until May 5.
