THE Give Where You Live Foundation and Wadawurrung Traditional Owners will present the second Conversations That Matter event, which will be headlined by former Olympian and federal senator Nova Peris.

Set to be held in the President’s Room at GMHBA Stadium on May 31, the 2023 Conversations that Matter event and lunch will focus on reconciliation and raising important issues that give people a voice and create positive change.

Joining Mrs Peris as special guests will be Wadawurrung Traditional Owner Corrina Eccles, Allira Potter as MC and an array of local First Nations guests who will run a panel discussion throughout the day.

Give Where You Live Foundation chief executive officer Meg Price said the foundation was looking forward to hearing stories and creating a platform for First Nations people.

“At our second Conversations That Matter event we invite the community to listen deeply to stories about what it means to be a First Nations person in Australia today.

“To hear about the deep enduring connection to country, and the incredible strength, pride, generosity, and courage of First Nations people and the challenges and modern-day experiences and impacts of discrimination and inequitable systems.

“We’re looking forward to helping our community to explore and talk about how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in our community.”

The Conversations That Matter event will be presented by GeelongPort, Worksafe Victoria, GMHBA and Scale Facilitation.
