WARRALILY’s popular Pets Day Out event is back for another year and promises to fill locals and their furry friends with a day of fun, compassion and endless tail wagging.

The October 22 event will be held at Mirambeena Park in Armstrong Creek and will be dedicated to celebrating the remarkable journey of adopting and fostering rescue pets.

Volunteers will be on hand from the Geelong Animal Rescue, The Yellow Door – Rescue and Rehoming, Starting Over Dog Rescue and Forever Friends Animal Rescue organisations to impart their wisdom about the work they do and how locals can get involved.

Jordan Barker from Geelong Animal Rescue said she was looking forward to meeting fellow pet-lovers at the event and advocating for an adopt don’t shop mentality.

“No animal will love you like a rescue does; they have a higher level of appreciation for being in your home.

“We’re always looking for more foster carers, which is the only limiting factor on how many animals we can save from the pounds we work with.

“We provide everything the pet needs, so there’s no out of pocket costs for foster parents.

“If people are interested in signing up, please look for the link on our website.”

Back by popular demand will be the PETStock Pet Parade, with pets encouraged to compete in a various categories including Best Big Dog, Best Small Dog, Best Dressed and Best Trick for a chance to win some exciting prizes.

The talented four-legged stars of Geelong Obedience Club will be showcasing their incredible tricks, while locals will be able to explore a vibrant pet supply bazaar featuring pet essentials, treats and unique accessories.

Armstrong Creek Veterinary Practice will be available to answer all pet care questions and Crazy Dog Solutions can help to provide tips on practical and effective dog training.

The kids can cuddle furry friends at the Fun Farm 2 U animal farm, enjoy face painting from Nell’s Face Painting and experience a day in the life of a vet with Minivets.

They can also interact with Story Dogs, a not-for-profit reading support program which uses trained accredited dogs to make reading fun for kids.

Warralily senior estate manager, Lee Howard said the community is in for an incredible day filled with the spirit of community and welfare.

“We’re proud to be doing our part to help the cause of homeless dogs and cats at this year’s event. Many rescue shelters are currently full and can’t take more animals without community support.

“It’s also wonderful to have so many amazing pet stalls on show for our beloved pets and delightful food and refreshments for their humans too!

“As always, the entertainment promises to be a lot of fun, making it a fantastic day out for everyone.”
