CROWDS flocking to the Surf Coast today (Friday, January 12) and over the weekend will see more police out and about, with Victoria Police increasing its prescence across the area in response to the major events being held.
The Powercor Mountain to Surf fun run is being held today, followed by the Powercor Pier to Pub ocean swim tomorrow (Saturday, January 13) and the Million Dollar Bogan fundraising ride from Geelong to Apollo Bay via Deans Marsh and Lorne this Sunday, January 14.
“Local police, including highway patrol, will be significantly increasing their presence on Surf Coast roads this weekend,” Surf Coast local area commander Inspector Ilena Pucar said.
“With several public events scheduled, we anticipate a surge in road traffic to and from the Surf Coast.
“Our number one priority is to keep the community safe, which is why we will be on high alert for anyone speeding, drink driving, not wearing a seatbelt or using their mobile phone behind the wheel.
“To those attending an event on the Surf Coast this weekend, we encourage you to have a great time, act responsibly, and help ensure a positive experience for everyone.”
