Prestigious choir to repeat sell-out concert
VOX Angelica Geelong Chamber Choir is proud to be hosting a second performance of their previously sold-out concert Atmosphere this weekend in Geelong.
This Sunday, September 17, the 25-person choir will be backing up their sell-out Geelong Gallery performance in May, with a special concert at the St Paul’s Anglican Church on Latrobe Terrace.
Vox Angelica will be performing more than ten songs inspired by the paintings of Australian artist Clarice Beckett.
Ms Beckett lived in Bayside Melbourne and painted many “ethereal, misty and meditative” beach scenes on the Surf Coast, including in Anglesea.
As inspired by her collection, the material will be predominantly classical with modern tones which appeal to everybody and are “easy listening and incredibly beautiful.”
Vox Angelica founder and director Tom Healey said he was eager to see the response the show got at the bigger venue.
“It’s a high-level choir and includes some of the best choir singers in Geelong, they sing absolutely beautifully.
“We performed the show at the Geelong Gallery in May for the Clarice Beckett exhibition and it was incredibly successful and sold out.
“People were blown away. It moved people to tears and really tugged at their heartstrings.
“St Paul’s has the most fabulous sounds, and the music will no doubt appeal to everyone.
“Everyone usually loves our concerts and hopefully it’ll be no different this time at this amazing venue.”
The choir performance will be led by both Mr Healey and Geelong composer Kym Alexandra Dillon and be just over one hour in duration.
The first songs will be played at 5pm.
Tickets are $25 for adults and free of charge for under 18s.
