CITY Hall’s festive Christmas lights displays are back for another year, inspired by local children across the region ahead of December 25.

The City of Greater Geelong has this year partnered with not-for-profit Meli, allowing kindergarteners to draw, colour and express what Christmas means to them.

Projection artist Olaf Meyer and the team from Multimedia Events and City staff held workshops at Meli kindergartens in Geelong, seeing the youngsters in action decorating paper hearts.

Geelong mayor Stretch Kontelj said the projections at City Hall were both beautiful and inspiring.

“It’s amazing to hear straight from the source about how local children in our community think about and embody kindness during the festive season.

“City staff were left in awe at their incredible spirit, imagination, and empathy during the workshops.

“It’s well worth checking out these heartwarming projections with the family and sparking up a conversation about the spirit of Christmas.”

City Hall on Gheringhap Street started lighting each day from Saturday and will continue to do so until January 7 alongside images and messages of kindness.

The colourful paper hearts will be displayed in an exhibition at our Geelong Regional Libraries and Geelong Gallery as well.
