Proud to represent the community again

December 13, 2024 BY

IN JANUARY 2023, I had the great honour and privilege of being sworn in midterm to represent the former Brownbill ward, to replace an outgoing councillor.

I’m thrilled and grateful that you have again put your trust in me to serve as a City of Greater Geelong councillor – this time representing the new ward of Cheetham, based in Geelong’s eastern suburbs.

Cheetham ward represents a part of the world that I’ve known and loved my entire life. I’ve spent most of my life in Geelong, and now live on the same street I grew up on in St Albans Park.

Cheetham is one of eleven new City of Greater Geelong wards and it includes my home suburb, Breakwater, East Geelong, Moolap, Newcomb, South Geelong, Thomson, Whittington and part of central Geelong.

I am proud to again represent the 3219 community and neighbouring suburbs as your councillor for this ward.

I thank Cheetham residents for electing me and I look forward to advocating for you for the next four years.

I originally decided to run for Council to ensure that the needs and interests of residents in the eastern suburbs were being considered in Council’s deliberations and decisions.

That motivation hasn’t changed.

My goal as a councillor is to ensure that our community isn’t forgotten, and I’ll do my best to represent our needs and aspirations on Council.

As a Council, we must work together to ensure we continue to deliver important services like pools, childcare, libraries and homecare.

Maintaining our roads, footpaths and open spaces, at a standard we deserve, and important upgrades for our sporting and community facilities are also important to me as a councillor.

We need to continue providing affordable Council services that help with the cost of living and advocate for the best interests of all Geelong residents in all our decisions.

As a Council we will work with federal and state governments to ensure our community gets the funding and services that it needs, and this will also be a key focus of mine.

My family and I love living in Geelong – going to the footy, walking along the beach and enjoying all the unique experiences our hometown has to offer.

I’m passionate about Geelong and I want to help make our region an even better place to call home.

I look forward to working with this dedicated group of new and re-elected councillors, who share my passion for our region, and I will work hard to represent you to the best of my ability during my time on council.
