FOOTBALL Victoria Geelong has backed a new statewide push for greater government investment in football infrastructure.
The organisation has thrown its support behind Football Victoria’s “Level the Playing Field” campaign, which was launched at state parliament earlier this month.
Chair Mike McKinstry and deputy chair Robert Palmaricciotti joined Lara MP, Ella George, and City of Greater Geelong councillor Eddy Kontelj for the launch.
The Geelong delegation used the opportunity to advocate for a dedicated regional football facility and ongoing upgrades to local club infrastructure.
With participation continuing to surge across the region, Football Victoria Geelong says investment in key areas such as playing surfaces, lighting and female-friendly changerooms is essential to keep pace with demand.
Sustained funding would also support the growth of the game at all levels, helping clubs provide opportunities for players, coaches, referees and volunteers.
McKinstry said the campaign was a crucial step in addressing infrastructure gaps.
“A regional football facility in Geelong would be a significant step forward for the development of the game locally,” he said.
Football Victoria has encouraged supporters to sign the “Level the Playing Field” parliamentary petition.
