Remedies learned from the earth for healthy skin, hair and home

April 18, 2022 BY

From Earth is a book of apothecaries, drawn from nature to aid healthy skin, hair and homes.

The book offers step-by-step guides through medicinal properties, uses and storage of botanicals, and how to use them to treat various health issues and create skin and household products.

Author Charlotte Rasmussen grew up on a farm in Denmark, and spent her youth exploring, playing and learning from nature.

For her, From Earth is in many ways a tribute to her family, love of the Earth and her youth learning to love and live off the land.

“Mum simply didn’t believe in over-the-counter pharmaceuticals,” Charlotte writes.

“We learnt to forage and enjoy the medicinal properties of the plants surrounding us, and how the earth could provide us with what we needed to be happy and healthy.

“This book will help you understand your natural skin and hair health, as well as natural remedies that have been used for centuries.

“It is dedicated to those who want to go back and remove unnatural and harmful ingredients from their life, by swapping to natural ingredients.

“I assure you that you will look and feel better than you ever have.”

Charlotte Rasmussen grew up on a farm in Denmark, and spent her youth exploring, playing and learning from nature.

With a Norwegian mother and a Danish father, English is her third language so writing a book for an English audience wasn’t something Charlotte had really ever dreamed of doing.

But when she moved to Torquay with her three kids the book almost came together on its own.

The idea for From Earth started in many ways, by chance.

Charlotte created an oil blend to help with her daughter’s eczema. When the product worked so well it was shared around the community, she started a business selling these natural products that quickly grew to sell internationally.

Flicking through the pages you will find information on oils and essential oils, herbs and their medicinal uses, and recipes to draw these uses together.

From the de-stressing properties of lavender, how to make the most of the anti-inflammatory properties of marshmallow root to soothe the throat, or the uses and origins of common herbs such as sage as well as lesser-known herbs such as seneca snakeroot, Charlotte deep-dives into holistic hair, skin and home.

Charlotte matches recommendations for medical complaints with oils and herbs that may help, and lists the medical uses for herbs.

Readers will become confident blending herbs and oils, creating essential oils blends and infusing their lives and homes with healthy, holistic, home-made products.

With this, Charlotte takes readers through easy step-by-step processes to make their own skin, hair and house products and remedies with products that come straight from the earth.

“This book will help you understand your natural skin and hair health, as well as natural remedies that have been used for centuries.

“I hope you will find inspiration to create your own natural apothecary by using botanicals, oils and essential oils to create the recipes that suit you and your family.”
