Hosted at Village Cinemas, the annual event is now entering its eighth year with the fun, adventure and inspiration from cycling at the heart of its purpose.
Big Bike Film Night Founder Brett Cotter said the quality of films in this year’s event remained at a high level, however it had been heralded as the best one yet.
“We’ve had the most amount of attendees in New Zealand and the interest and demand to see it in Australia has really picked up,” he said.
“I think that’s a recognition of the quality of the Big Bike Film Night and the diversity that it comes with.”
Eight films will make up the evening, all telling a different story, packed with drama, action and humour, all while reminding people why they love to ride.
The 2.5 hour screening features a variety of films including one redefining what’s possible on a gravel bike, a group of friends travelling to Scotland demonstrating what people with disabilities can achieve, and a New Zealand group raising awareness around climate change.
Mr Cotter said he hoped after watching the films people feel inspired to get out there and try new things.
“Going to a Big Bike Film Night should probably come with a warning sign because you’ll probably want to go and buy a new bike or go on a new tour or visit New Zealand or go to Afghanistan.
“It really does open up people’s interest in terms of what you can do with the bike.
“It’s the leisure, it’s the social environment, it’s the recreation, there’s so many different types of activities and the Big Bike Film Night really highlights that.”
