Santa Runs lined up for Christmas Eve
SANTA Claus will be out and about greater Geelong on Christmas Eve spreading Christmas joy to residents with the help of local fire brigades.
A pair of local brigades will provide a free lift for Santa on December 24 as he delivers lollies and presents to children across the region before he begins his yearly sleigh run.
Geelong West and Grovedale Fire Brigades will both have stops available for families to attend and to get a glimpse of the man in the red suit.
Geelong West Fire Brigade’s Santa Run will commence at 3.10pm at Kenwith Reserve, before passing through other areas such as L.J Keavy Park (3.50pm), George Harvey Reserve (4.30pm), Elderslie Reserve (5.10pm), Kevin Kirby Reserve (5.50pm), Escarpment Drive Playground (6.30pm), Fyansford Oval (6.50pm), Oval Bakers Oval (7.30pm), and lastly Sparrow Park (8.00pm).
The Grovedale Fire Brigade will begin its Santa Run from 2.15pm at Grovedale Recreation Reserve, then will spend time at Glenlee Regional Park (3.00pm), Ashbury Estate Park (3.30pm), Aviation Park (4.00pm), Harmony Park (4.30pm), and Bunjils Nest Playground in Mount Duneed (5.00pm).
Grovedale CFA volunteer Rebecca Frost said the annual Santa Run at the local brigade is one of the biggest days of the year for her fellow volunteers.
“We always look forward to the Santa Run, it’s a great opportunity to thanks our community for their ongoing support every year,” Ms Frost said.
“Given the fact that we’ve just been approved for a Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program (VESEP) grant for our trucks, that is a direct by-product of the support we get from our community and it’s just of the many ways they help us in our duties.
“We’re looking forward to seeing the community out in force again, and we will again be stocked up with lollies from The Sweets Lab for those who can be there.”
For full details on both Santa Runs head to be found at each brigade’s Facebook page.
