SHARING your skills and knowledge to train others in your area of expertise can be highly rewarding.

With most Australian workers needing to reskill or upskill in the next five years, there has never been a better time to qualify as a Trainer and Assessor (TAE).

The Gordon offers great flexibility for those looking to become an accredited teacher of their profession. With courses offered part-time over a six or 12-month period, online or face-to-face, and day and evening courses, you can select the type of learning that suits your lifestyle.

Rachel Jones, TAE teacher at The Gordon, said: “Our TAE opens doors.

It gives you the chance to contribute to the future of your industry.

We need to put good people in the classroom and our vocational education sector needs experienced people to become trainers and assessors.

“We encourage anyone who is ready to step up into a teaching role to check out our TAE course.

Our courses have been designed with flexible study options, knowing our students are still working in their own industries.

Along with an accommodating timetable, our students are always fully supported by a teacher who is with you for the duration of your course.

TAE graduate Jodie Carty.

“The course is filled with students from all walks of life who have years of experience in their own industry. Bringing all their stories and experiences to the table is a great way to learn together.”

Jodie Carty, a diploma trained early childhood educator, was looking for more in her role and took the next step mid-career to complete her Training and Assessment certificate.

“With 20 years in early childhood education, I knew I wanted to remain in the industry and pass on my years of skills and knowledge to the next generation of educators.

Becoming a trainer was the perfect way for me to give back to my industry and fulfil my desire to continue to study.

However, with the government estimate of over 30,000 new jobs in childcare in the next five years, that is a lot of people needing TAFE qualifications,” shared Ms Carty.

The Gordon’s TAE program consists of four hours of online study and one night a week in the classroom for 12 months.

This allows students to continue working while completing their certificate.

For Ms Carty, the versatile study options have been perfect, and she is now a qualified teacher in Early Childhood.
