Slatter named new TAC boss

BARWON Water managing director Tracey Slatter has been appointed as the new chief of the Transport Accident Commission (TAC).

The Victorian government announced the appointment Monday, with Ms Slatter to start her new role on July 3 to replace the outgoing Joe Calafiore.

Ms Slatter has led the Geelong region’s water authority for six years, and was previously head of claims at the TAC so is well-known in the public insurance sector.

TAC Minister Danny Pearson said the respected leader was the ideal candidate to continue the commission’s work to reduce Victoria’s road toll.

“Congratulations to Tracey Slatter on her appointment – her experience and expertise will be instrumental in the TAC reaching its goals to support clients and make our roads safer for everyone.”

“Joe Calafiore has fought tirelessly to improve safety on our roads and reduce the number of Victorians affected by the devastation of road trauma – I thank him for his unwavering dedication to the TAC and wish him all the best in his next chapter.”

Minister for Road Safety Melissa Horne also welcomed Ms Slatter’s appointment this week.

“I am thrilled to welcome Tracey Slatter to the role of CEO at the TAC – I am confident that her leadership will help the organisation continue to deliver exceptional outcomes for all Victorians.”

“I look forward to working with Tracey as she leads the TAC in achieving our ambitious target of eliminating death from our roads by 2050, with the first step of halving road deaths by 2030.”

Mr Calafiore announced in January he would end his tenure at the TAC after 13 years including eight in the top job.
