THE St Paul’s Anglican Church Christmas Tree Festival will return for its second edition this December to highlight some of Geelong’s favourite not for profit organisations and charities.

The Christmas Tree Festival is on December 1 and 2 and will showcase decorated trees that will share the amazing stories and wonderful works of compassion and generosity in the local community.

Among the local businesses decorating a Christmas tree and participating are Story Dogs, Bushikori, Refugee Assistance Group, Christ Church Meals Program, Give Where You Live Foundation and local men’s shed and rotary groups.

Event organiser, Ruth Oakley said the event shines a light on group’s actively making the community “a better place”.

“This year we will have a lot more trees and businesses involved than last year, which is terrific.

“The businesses will be able to colour and decorate their tree as they wish, with the goal of it showing off their community impact in their own unique way.

“We recognise there are many people within Greater Geelong doing great things and really helping people.

“This is a great opportunity for them to get their story out, celebrate them and show off the festive spirit.”

The Northern Children’s Choir and St Pauls Choir will lead a special concert on Friday night (December 1) to open the festival.

A sausage sizzle and children’s activities will follow from 10am onwards on Saturday.

Entry is by a gold coin donation.
