State fund supports Prestige Jayco expansion
PRESTIGE Jayco will hire 15 new staff at its Geelong operations to help build more caravans here with support from the state government’s Regional Jobs Fund.
Prestige Jayco Caravans Geelong is one of Victoria’s largest motorhome and caravan dealerships, and sells, repairs and services up to 1,500 of the vehicles each year, and is investing $5 million to redevelop its sales centre in Newcomb to meet the growing demand.
The redevelopment is will see the business build two new buildings next door to its current sales centre in Newcomb.
The first building will house a workshop that will double its capacity to service Jayco vehicles.
A new sales and administration centre, combined with a parts and accessories store, will be built next to the new workshop.
The project will create 15 new jobs including workshop technicians, sales and administration staff at Prestige Jayco Caravans Geelong. The new roles are on top of the 41 staff the business already employs at the site.
It is also supporting local construction jobs, with Prestige Jayco Caravans Geelong promising to using local trades and materials throughout the build.
Labor says it is backing Geelong to become regional Victoria’s biggest supplier of Jayco caravans, with Geelong MP Christine Couzens announcing the expansion project last week.
“I’m delighted to see how we are continuing to support businesses like Prestige Jayco Caravans Geelong to expand and create jobs for locals,” Ms Couzens said.
“This local business is not only supporting local jobs but helping to meet the growing demand for recreational vehicles across regional Victoria.”
The Regional Jobs Fund is part of the state govenrment’s Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund, which helps businesses create jobs in regional Victoria, supports community projects and backs councils to build the infrastructure that locals and visitors need.
