GEELONG Animal Welfare Society (GAWS) is on the hunt for its next calendar superstars, opening the 2026 Calendar Competition.

Thirteen heartwarming photos of former shelter animals are needed to make up the calendar, showing how they are living their happily ever after life.

“Every GAWS graduate has a unique story, and we’re excited to celebrate the cats and dogs who’ve found love, happiness and a fresh start in their forever homes,” GAWS chief executive officer Helen Cocks said.

The theme of this year’s graduate calendar is ‘Living their best life’, celebrating the joy, love and second chances provided by GAWS.

“GAWS pet parents can share a photo of their GAWS graduate embracing the joy of their second chance,” Ms Cocks said.

“Whether they’re exploring new places, relaxing at home, or simply enjoying life as their unique, wonderful selves, we want to see how their pet is thriving in their forever home.”

GAWS relies on donations, both monetary and goods, to be able to invest and care for animals that enter their organisation, with funds raised from the calendars aiding their support.

“We have thousands of animals admitted each year who have their individual vet and care requirements met,” Ms Cocks said.

“Our calendar is one way people can financially support us and our vital work – every calendar purchase helps.”

To enter, pet parents are required to submit two landscape photos of their pet and include a short caption or story.

The competition is open now and closes on Saturday, August 23, with finalists announced on September 9.
