Superboats in the bay
GEELONG’S Offshore Superboat Championship has taken place in the bay over the weekend.
The program began on April 9 with a meet and greet function before racing took place on the following days at Geelong’s waterfront.

The second round commenced on the final day of racing on Sunday, with competitors travelling more than seven kilometres between Rippleside Beach and Limeburners Point at 200 metres offshore.
Sportsboat winners over the weekend included Steve Kelly and Anthony Bann in Sports 85 as well as Ryan Shan and Raymond Tang in the Sports 65 race.
Ross and Andrew Willaton finished on top in the Superboat Extreme, Steve Jellick and Jason Kelly won the Superboat 1000 while Scott Richardson and Stephen Kelly picked up first place in the Superboat Outboard.
The Geelong race weekend makes up round two of the five scheduled events to be hosted nationally by Offshore Superboat Championships in 2021.
The next round is set to be held at the end of May in Hervey Bay, Queensland.
