The SAFV Centre appoints new CEO

THE Sexual Assault and Family Violence (SAFV) Centre has found its new leader.

Kerriann Campbell-Jones, an executive with more than 15 years’ experience in the not-for-profit and social justice sectors, will take up the role of chief executive officer in early December.

Her move to the SAFV Centre follows more than four years at Nunkuwarrin Yunti of South Australia, an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation providing contemporary, culturally based health, social and emotional wellbeing services.

There, Ms Campbell-Jones served as part of the organisation’s executive leadership team, most recently as chief operating officer.

She said it was an honour to become CEO at the SAFV Centre.

“It is a privilege to lead such a dedicated, experienced and highly skilled team.

“I believe deeply in the transformative power of collaboration and am committed to fostering an inclusive environment where every voice is valued in our collective mission.

“I’m committed to steering the organisation toward a future where every initiative reflects the values of inclusivity, resilience and community empowerment.

“I look forward to continuing the work of the current experienced and specialised team and board, ensuring that the voices of those served remain at the heart of every decision made.”

Her appointment follows the resignation of the SAFV Centre’s former chief of 13 years, Helen Bolton, in September.

SAFV Centre chair Renee Fiolet said the organisation was thrilled to welcome Ms Campbell-Jones, along with her “strong passion for social justice and advocacy” to the position of CEO.

“The SAFV Centre has a long and proud history of responding to the needs of victim survivors, providing trauma-informed services while also advocating for change in government, justice systems and community attitudes, and stopping the violence before it begins.

“Keriann’s values, advocacy and leadership align closely with the organisation’s vision, and we look forward to welcoming her in December.”

Interim chief Carmel Thomas will continue in the role until December before resuming her long-standing position in the SAFV Centre’s executive team.

Ms Fiolet thanked Ms Thomas for her leadership through a time of transitional change for the organisation.
