COASTAL Jam has sold out in just minutes, setting the scene for local events following a quiet year in the entertainment industry

The annual Coastal Jam series will return to the Torquay Hotel in January 2021, with punters exhausting the allocated tickets in just eight minutes.

Event organiser Adam Metwally said he suspected tickets would be snapped up as the event marks the beginning of a COVID-normal way of life for many Victorians.

“No one is wanting to take things for granted now, we had more than three times the capacity on the registration list,” he said.

The Costal Jam dates had been earmarked as early as six months ago, however with the looming pandemic half the shows were later cancelled.

Mr Metwally said the uncertainty of the restrictions made the planning process a little different to previous years.

“No one knows what is going and we are trying our best to make things work which means pulling the trigger as quickly as possible when things become available,” he said.

The sold-out event was a product of an intense planning period which Mr Metwally was able to turn around in the space of a week.

“It was just consistent calls with the venue and checking in and luckily the Torquay leg was viable, and they said go ahead.”

Mr Metwally has worked with the Torquay Hotel over the last three years and praised the hotel for its vision within the industry.

“Torquay Hotel has a really good feel for quality and a long-term vision for the community,” he said.

“They value quality over quantity and that is where we align and why we have worked together for three years.”

Mr Metwally said collecting ticketholder’s details had been a priority to ensure contact tracing would be possible, as well as having every patron scan into the venue.

“Realistically it is hard to control how people move through the venue when standing is allowed but we are promoting the CovidSafe approach,” he said.

“We will do everything in our power to keep it safe while assessing each outcome as it comes.”

The one-day event will feature Melbourne acts such as Stace Cadet and Spacey Space as well numerous local DJs including Ben Reyment, Merl and Vanilla Neptune.
