Man arrested in Torquay following alleged stabbing and assaults
VICTORIA Police arrested a man after a series of violent incidents in Torquay, including a stabbing and multiple assaults, on 27 April.
Early in the day, around 10:45 a.m., a man allegedly wielding a knife was seen moving through Zeally Bay Road and Fischer Street.
According to witnesses, he entered several businesses before allegedly approaching and stabbing a man on Zeally Bay Road.
The victim sustained minor injuries and was treated by paramedics at the scene.
Following the stabbing, the assailant entered a pharmacy on Gilbert Street, where he allegedly assaulted two more people, who did not sustain injuries.
From there witnesses say he fled down Fischer St.
“He ran from the scene and was arrested a short time later at a residence in Torquay,” the police statement read.
“A Torquay man aged in his 50s has been taken to hospital for assessment.”
The investigation remains ongoing.
