GEELONG’S Johnstone Park has been lined with decorative Christmas trees as part of an annual initiative led by the City of Greater Geelong to get local school’s involved in the region’s celebrations.

27 local primary schools have each contributed to Christmas tree cut outs next to City Hall, providing an opportunity for students to show off their festive creativity.

Deputy Mayor Ron Nelson said Geelong was proud to claim the non-official title of “Christmas capital of Victoria”.

“Whether it’s buying unique gifts the Laneways Christmas Festival, meeting Santa at The Carousel or checking out the Floating Christmas Tree, there is so much to see and do this month,” Cr Nelson said.

“While you’re out and about, we suggest stopping in for a bite at a local cafe or restaurant to support local businesses in the area.”
