Try Before You Ride: Geelong event boosts public transport confidence
The ‘Try Before You Ride’ event will be held on Thursday, November 28 between 1pm and 3pm and give community members a chance to practice boarding and exiting different modes of public transport.
A V/Line V/Locity train on a Geelong Railway Station platform, along with an accessible coach, low-floor bus and wheelchair-accessible taxi outside the station will all be available for attendees to try.
Travellers Aid representatives will be on hand to provide assistance and information about their services, while Public Transport Victoria (PTV) staff will be available to answer questions about ticketing.
V/Line director of customer services and accessibility Michael Brady said the invitation is open to everyone, including people with accessibility requirements, parents with children, older people, as well as occasional or regular travellers.
“V/Line is committed to creating a public transport network that is accessible to everyone and we are continuing to look for ways to support passengers using our services,” he said.
“This is an opportunity for people to boost their confidence when using public transport.
“It’s important to give people the time and support they need to become familiar with the different modes of transport.”
The ‘Try Before You Ride’ event is supported by PTV, CDC Buses Victoria and Silver Top Taxis.
