HUNDREDS of people indulged in glitz and glamour to help raise more than $64,000 for dementia research at the inaugural Forget Me Not Ball last weekend.

The event at 1915 Restaurant and Bar aimed to foster a spirit of support and awareness of dementia across the Greater Geelong region.

Attendees rocked cocktail-meets-Casino-Royale themed outfits and enjoyed an all-inclusive night of cocktails, canapes, live music and plenty of fundraising.

A major highlight of the evening was the unveiling of the Forget Me Not Geelong Dementia Fund by Barwon Health Foundation philanthropy and bequests manager Francis Trainor.

The fund will help support clinical dementia research in Geelong and improve the lives of local patients and their families.

Mr Trainor said Barwon Health Foundation was honoured to be the beneficiary of the event.

“The evening was outstanding on all fronts and the incredible organising committee are to be commended for their efforts,” he said.

“Money raised will see the establishment of the ‘Forget Me Not Dementia Fund’ which we believe is an incredibly exciting initiative ensuring all funds raised will further vital research and knowledge of dementia through the extraordinary Barwon Health research teams.”
