A WEEK of roadworks will impact a busy Belmont road from tomorrow outside a popular shopping precinct.

A 100-metre section of High Street in Belmont, between Barwon Heads Road and Mt Pleasant Road will be temporarily restricted for road users in front of the Belmont Village Shopping Centre from October 2 until October 9.

The City of Greater Geelong will replace the gutters to ensure proper road standards are met and stormwater is properly drained in the event of heavy rain.

Acting executive director of City Infrastructure Shaun Broadbent said the necessary works will cause some disruption until they are completed.

“I thank the community for their patience during these important works for the Belmont community,” Mr Broadbent said.

“We ask that community members adjust to the changed traffic conditions and drive safely.”

The city said the left lane Grovedale-bound will be closed, however, access to the shopping centre will remain unimpacted.

Reduced speed limits and traffic management will be put in place once work commences between 7am and 5pm on weekdays.

The lane closure will be in place 24/7 until works are completed.

Local bus routes will not be impacted but public transport users can expect minor delays.

The Belmont Village Shopping Centre bus stop will be moved 50 metres south towards Grovedale during the works.
