Updated plan for Norlane health centre
A NEW medical centre, dental practice and childcare facility could all be coming to Norlane under development plans lodged with the City of Greater Geleong.
The city is advertising plans to build the new health precinct at 21-29 Princes Highway – opposite the suburb’s Bunnings store.
The proposed development would include three two-storey buildings; a medical centre across two levels, a dental health centre with upstairs day surgery and childcare centre with six playrooms indoors and outdoor play area across both levels.
The care facility would have capacity for up to 127 children, while the dental practice would house up to 11 practitioners.
Nine single-storey houses and their outbuidlings would be demolished at the Princes Highway, Arunga Avenue and Denver Street to make way for the new proposal.
Amended plans now on display have replaced an existing gym with a small café attached to the dental centre that can house up to two staff.
“The final outcome will be an improved development, one that has improved car parking, improved landscaping, simple signage befitting the scale of the development and less impact on the abutting neighbours as a result in the change in use from gym to café and the increased buffers provided by the landscaping,” planning documents stated.
Submissions for the plan are open until Wednesday, February 15.
