WORKS to build and upgrade car parking spaces at North Shore Station are now complete, making it easier for commuters to park, catch the train and travel from the north of Geelong.

Minister for Public Transport Ben Carroll and Member for Lara Ella George visited the North Shore station site on Wednesday to officially open the new facility, which includes 200 new and upgraded spaces, accessible car parking and the installation of 10 new bicycle hoops.

Lighting and CCTV has also been installed at the station to improve safety for all passengers, along with wayfinding signage and extra landscaping.

Member for Lara Ella George said Labor Government’s Car Parks for Commuters program would provide locals with greater access to public transport.

“From investing in car park infrastructure to making regional fares cheaper, we’re getting on with ensuring public transport is accessible for all regional Victorians.”

Minister for Public Transport Ben Carroll also supported the North Shore Station upgrades.

“Catching the train will now be easier and safer for commuters in the growing area north of Geelong, thanks to our Car Parks for Commuters Program making public transport more accessible and convenient for communities.”

Since 2014, the government has delivered 16,000 new and upgraded parking spaces at stations across the state, with an additional 5,000 spaces on the way.
