THE Lara District Rotary Club is on the hunt for new volunteers to join the group.

Following the COVID-19 lockdowns, volunteer numbers have been down across many organisations.

Lara District Rotary Club public relations director Bethany McClean said volunteer roles within Rotary were kept very flexible, with no specific experience needed.

“Something that has been a real passion of our club is that you can help in any capacity you can,” she said.

“You don’t have to be out there committing to a set day every week, every month, every day; you can give what you can.

“Our club has a hybrid option in which we have online meetings so people can actually join these several times a month, if need be; your ability to give back is out there and we’re happy to help you find that.”

The Lara district is heavily focused on providing support to communities and reaching out and partnering with local charities in need.

The club is heavily focused on helping out where they can in a way that best serves the charity or organisation.

Ms McClean said the club wanted to be able to help in a way that best served charities and organisations, which could range from providing publicity or doing food drives for those in need.

“We don’t want to be the club that is just writing a cheque, we want to be the club that’s actually boots on the ground helping on the day,” she said.

“Yes, you can provide funds which is so important for so many local organisations, but our ability to help out in any way is what really draws most of the volunteers in.”

The club also runs the Lara monthly market and sponsors the Lara Volunteer expo, for organisations looking for volunteers and helping people decide where their time is best suited.
