THE Wathaurong Aboriginal Co-operative is inviting the community to learn more about what the organisation does at its open day on Monday, April 7.

To be held at the Norlane ARC, the event aims to show the community what Wathaurong does as an organisation and how they can get involved.

Wathaurong marketing and partnerships manager Beth Davis said although this is the first time the Co-operative had staged an open day for people to learn about its services and programs, it often held other events throughout the year.

“We do a lot within the community and for the community, but we also host a lot of cultural events as well that the wider community are welcome to come to.

“It’s an opportunity to just come and learn more about Wathaurong as a whole and we have so many different events and programs that people just may not have any idea about.”

The open day will be set up as expo with tables and stalls for the different programs and staff on hand to answer any questions.

Different activities and activations will also take place, allowing people to get involved including face painting, scavenger hunts, giveaways and more.

Ms Davis said the open day is an event everyone is welcome to attend.

“While our services are geared towards Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the region, we want to encourage everybody to come along.

“We also want the wider community to come along and learn more about us as an organisation and maybe how they can support us in the community as well.”

The day will be split into two sections, with external organisations and businesses invited between 1pm and 3pm and community members between 3pm and 7pm.
