THE next stage of roadworks adjacent to Waurn Ponds Station is going ahead with the City of Greater Geelong warning residents to accommodate extra travel time as road closures will be enforced.

Upgrades to Bodega Street and Sugargum Drive in Waurn Ponds are under way with a road closure for Stage 2 implemented between Cottonwood Way and Rene Street.

The city stated traffic management will be in place during working hours (7am-4pm) with Stage Two works expected to be completed by Friday, February 23.

“Detour signs will be in place for the duration of the works,” a city spokesperson said.

“Works will occur from Monday to Friday during the hours of 7am until 4pm, weather permitting.”

This $2.1 million project is funded by the Australian Government’s 23/24 Roads to Recovery Program.

Residents and businesses who may be impacted by the works have been notified of road closures.

Stage Three roadworks on Sugargum Drive between Rene Street to Oakwood Crescent will commence directly after Stage Two’s completion and is scheduled to be completed by May 7.
