Welsh choir to spread Christmas joy
GEELONG Welsh Ladies Choir will sing out Christmas joy at Waurn Ponds Community Church next month when the local singing group returns for its annual concert.
The choir’s ‘Hint of Christmas’ performance on Sunday, December 10, from 3pm will provide an opportunity for the broader Geelong community to join in on early Christmas festivities free of charge.
Choir founder Jeannette John said the choir’s annual performance in Waurn Ponds is designed to bring joy to local residents.
“It’ll be a great opportunity for locals to come singalong and listen to a variety of carols on the day, it’s all about connecting through Christmas,” Ms John said.
“Not everybody has a happy Christmas, I think it’s important to remember that, so we’re reaching out to the community to spread that Christmas message.”
The choir’s Christmas performance has been an annual occurrence at the Waurn Ponds Community Church for over 10 years, including a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic
The songs sung by the choir’s 30 members on the day will involve a mix of the choir’s regular Welsh renditions, inspirational songs, and an array of Christmas carols.
Waurn Ponds Community Church is located on 48 Waurnvale Drive in Belmont.
