Western Heights to get major gym upgrade
A re-elected Andrews Labor Government will deliver a $7.55 million major competition-grade gymnasium to Western Heights College.
The Labor Government’s latest investment into the Hamlyn Heights school will see a state-of-the-art major upgrade that will provide all local families access to the best school facilities – supporting kids to do their best in the classroom.
Candidate for Lara Ella George believes the gymnasium facility will assist students with receiving a stronger overall education.
“Every family deserves a great local school and a re-elected Andrews Labor Government will deliver a competition grade gymnasium at Western Heights College so kids in Hamlyn Heights have the world-class classrooms they deserve,” she said.
“The best teachers aren’t able to do the best job in ageing classrooms and out-of-date facilities.
“That’s why the Andrews Labor Government has invested more than $12.8 billion to build and upgrade schools in every corner of the state – making sure every kid has every chance.”
Since coming into government, Labor has invested more than $12.8 million into building and upgrading schools in every corner of the state, with a goal set of delivering 100 new schools by 2026.
Labor believes by doing so, thousands of students will continue to learn in more modern classrooms, science labs and libraries and have better access to facilities like gyms and sports grounds.
Minister for Education Natalie Hutchins supported the announcement, citing the importance of Labor’s ongoing commitment to schools across the state.
“Our teachers do an amazing job educating Victorian students and that’s why we deliver so many new and upgraded classrooms and facilities at schools right across the state,” she said.
“We want our teachers and students to have what they need to succeed in the classroom.”
