Barwon Heads weekender sees fierce bidding

February 25, 2021 BY

SATURDAY’S auction of a three-bedroom townhouse in one of Barwon Heads most sought-after locations saw the reserve price smashed by $220,000.
With more than 100 people in attendance, auctioneer Levi Turner from Bellarine Property was kept busy with five active bidders fiercely contesting the Hitchcock Avenue property.
“We had 12 contracts out so we knew we would be busy,” Mr Turner said.
“Five bidders pushed the price to $1,700,000 with three bidders still involved above this price.
“We finally sold it for $1,770,000 which was $220,000 above the reserve so our vendors were very pleased with the whole auction campaign and the end result.
“The purchasers were a young family from Melbourne who plan to use it as a weekender.
“The buyers who missed out were downsizers from Melbourne and Barwon Heads.
“We ran a full auction campaign with good marketing strategies to draw as much interest as possible for our vendor.
“There are still many buyers out there looking for properties like this, several missed out above $1,700,000 on this property, so as a vendor, now is time to bring your property to market by auction to get the most out of the market.”
1/12 Hitchcock Avenue is a single level home set on front allotment on 551sqm allotment positioned a short stroll to the river and village centre tucked away behind the dunes of the Barwon Heads Golf Club and is one of Barwon Heads’ best kept secret locations.
