Buyer inquiries surge as local market remains stable

April 23, 2020 BY

Property manager Kellie Papworth says that property rentals have seen a huge spike in enquiries since Easter.

One Agency Surf Coast has continued its busy start to the year despite the obvious interruptions to “business as usual”.

In promising signs for the local market, buyer enquiries have shown no signs of slowing down with the agency recording several sales since Stage 3 shutdown restrictions were introduced at the end of last month.
Agency director Shaun O’Callaghan says that the range of people looking across the board had been a positive indicator too.
“The sale at 63 Spring Valley Drive in Ocean Views Estate speaks volumes as far as recent activity goes.
“Although it was a land only sale, it was snapped up quickly with the vendor also extremely pleased by the result.
“Add to this spending another $400,000-500,000 for a house and you soon realise that some people are still looking and going about things as you’d normally expect to see.”
Last Friday alone the agency recorded three sales in Torquay – while the week before that they also achieved 3228’s highest sale of the month to date, with the stunning rural retreat at 110 Sunset Strip in Jan Juc selling for $1,880,000.
“I’m really proud of the way our team has adapted to the recent challenges the entire population has been thrown,” Mr O’Callaghan said.
“We remain committed as ever to being proactive and getting the result for all our clients.
“On the flipside to that, we’re also trying to match as many prospective buyers as we can to their dream property – even if it means finding them one that’s not currently on the market.”

Meanwhile, One Agency property manager Kellie Papworth says that the property rentals had been just as busy with a huge spike in enquiries since Easter.
“The pandemic hasn’t stopped the number of people requiring housing.
“However we have seen more choice for renters due to short term accommodation owners wanting to look at longer term options given the drop in visitors to the region.
“Last week alone we had six new leases signed in one 24-hour period, which is an excellent result to say the least.”
