Kites ready to fly in Rippleside

Kids+ Kite Festival organisers are encouraging community members to join an inclusive family-fun kite flying day next month.

Hosted by Geelong-based child therapy service Kids+, the annual kite festival will return to Rippleside Park on Sunday, October 2.

“Last year, a fun, family, inclusive event was just what everybody needed,” Ms Gibbons said.

“Off the back of that success we feel there is demand in the Geelong events calendar for regular, accessible, and inclusive events where everyone can take part and enjoy themselves.”

The festival aims to promote a sense of belonging and community connection by bringing people of all backgrounds together for a fun, accessible, and inclusive family day.

Kite-flying, face-painting, a giant aerial kite display, music, and locally sourced food will be on offer throughout the day.

 

Families and individuals that purchase kite for the day, will direct funding into helping Kids+ deliver its programs to families right across the Geelong region and beyond.

Based in Geelong, Kids+ has provided paediatric allied health therapy and support services to the region for 19 years, supporting young people and their families, from birth through to young adulthood.

 

“We welcome everybody to come along to the Kite Festival, not only for a fabulous day out with family and friends but also to support our message of inclusivity,” Ms Gibbons said.

“Because we know that the interests of people with disability will only advance when the broader community supports inclusion and participation.”

Kites are available to purchase through www.kidspluskitesfestival.com.au with all proceeds going to Kids+.

The Kite Festival is on from 11.00am to 2.00pm at 42 Bell Parade, Rippleside.
