2024 World Longboard Tour to kick off at Bells Beach
The WSL Bells Beach Longboard Classic will return for a second straight year and be held from July 18 to 21, 2024, over a month earlier than in 2023.
One lucky Victorian male and female surfer will gain entry into the event by winning the overall state title in May.
A WSL Trials will also be held in the days prior to determine a second wildcard.
Following Bells Beach will be the Huntington Beach Longboard Classic from August 3 to 6.
A third tour stop is slated to be confirmed in the imminent future and will be held in September.
The first three stops will count towards qualifying for the fourth and final event – the Surf City El Salvador Longboard Championships from October 9 to 13.
It will feature the top eight men and top eight women who will compete for a world title.
WSL chief of sport Jessi Miley-Dyer said it was great to see the continued growth of the WSL Longboard Tour.
We premiered the new one-day Finals format last season on the Longboard Tour and are excited to bring that back in 2024, this time in El Salvador.
“With the new structure, we hope to continue to offer more opportunities for our surfers, and we’ll continue that approach this season.
“For the 2024 schedule, we’re excited to announce details of three of the four events and will share more details about stop number three soon.”
The WSL World Longboard Tour will feature 24 men and 24 women.
It will feature the top ten competitors from the 2023 Longboard Tour, seven surfers from the WSL regions, five seasonal wildcards and two event wildcards.
