Ammos ready for Coutas challenge
THE FIRST versus third blockbuster between Geelong Amateur and Queenscliff makes for an enticing match of the round in the BFL this weekend.
It was a shootout last time in Round 6 with Queenscliff emerging 19.7 (121) to 17.13 (115) winners at the Couta Bowl.
The Round 13 match-up will be on tomorrow (Saturday, July 5) from 2.10pm.
Ammos co-coach Riley Kershaw said it was hard to tell how it would pan out on Amateur’s home deck at Queens Park this time.
“Both sides like to do a bit of run and gun and we’re both attacking sides. So who knows?
“The grounds are vastly different. Obviously, the Couta Bowl is a little bit smaller than what Queens Park is. So obviously scores can flow a bit easier at times.

“But we’ll see. It’ll be a good contest regardless, from an attacking perspective.”
Queenscliff handed Ammos their only loss of the season, and Kershaw said his group was super keen to have another shot at the Coutas.
“They’re still in good form. Obviously they had a little blip last week [against Drysdale], but we’re super excited to have a crack at them.”
Ammos are coming off a 44-point win against Barwon Heads, in which they kicked six goals to two in the second term.
Kershaw said Amateur focused on winning the contested ball, which helped with their outside running game.
Ammos will be without Riley Ferguson and Tom Gorell, who are going on holidays to Europe.
In other matches, Torquay host Anglesea in a grand final rematch, Ocean Grove have Modewarre, Portarlington welcome Barwon Heads and Newcomb battle Drysdale.
