Anglesea's boaties in action.

SPIRITS are as high as they have been at the Anglesea Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) in almost 10 years, after the club claimed its first State Championships win since 2016.

Anglesea (443 points) beat all comers at Ocean Grove SLSC over three days last month, showcasing exemplary beach skills and determination, edging out fellow clubs Ocean Grove SLSC (440.25) and Mentone SLSC (354.50) by just 2.75 points to earn top spot on the podium.

“We are incredibly proud of our team’s outstanding achievement in reclaiming the Victorian Surf Lifesaving State Championships after almost a decade,” Anglesea SLSC president David Marsh said.

“This win is a testament to the hard work, commitment, and spirit of our athletes, coaches, and supporters who have dedicated themselves to achieving this incredible result.

Noah Chapple was named the Under 14 Men’s Champion Water Competitor after securing three golds.

“Our youth athletes were the backbone of our team over the weekend, and we are thrilled we have such a strong pipeline of athletes coming through our club.”

The club says its triumph in the Victorian Surf Lifesaving State Championships marks a significant milestone in the club’s illustrious history, reaffirming its position as a competition leader at both a state and national level.

Summer Morgan won six golds to be named the Under 14 Women’s Champion Water Competitor.

“Our strong performance in the State Championships underpins our core service of providing a safe beach for the community to swim at,” Marsh said.

“Pleasingly, we have seen an uplift in the standard of our service provided by our volunteer patrolling members, and I strongly believe our performance on the weekend is linked to our performance patrolling the beach.

“We also thank our sponsors, supporters, and the Anglesea community for their unwavering support to ensure our team can perform and excel at the highest level.”
