Aulsebrook to lead East Geelong for 2026
NED Aulsebrook has been reappointed as East Geelong’s senior coach for the GDFL 2026 season.
He led the group to the minor premiership in his first year in 2024 and has the team on track for finals again this season.
He said several different factors motivated him to go ahead.
“One is enjoyment. I’m really loving it down at Richmond Crescent at the moment.
“[They’re] a good bunch of lads, and we’re in a really strong position – obviously, that helps as well.
“We would love to see some success in this group and there are a lot of individuals in the group that deserve it and I’d love to be able to help them achieve that success.
“Hopefully signing on again for 2026 gives them the confidence that that stability will be there.”
He said junior sport was amazing in the way it brought families together and created a sense of community.
“I remember playing for the Warrnambool Football Club in under-12s and 14s and 16s, and you looked up to the senior boys and when they came down to training or on a Saturday, if you went down and watched them – [they were] superheroes.
“I don’t underestimate the power that the senior group has on a community club like East Geelong.”
Aulsebrook said the group had added to its offensive game while holding onto its strong defensive structures from last year.
The Eagles face Bannockburn away tomorrow (Saturday, July 5) at 2pm in Round 12.
